Today I popped over to the Burd Run area, both at the Brookside Ave. wetland and the Riparian Restoration Project park further downstream, and the focus today was on wings - birds, butterflies, and dragonflies. We had an unusually warm Winter and a fairly wet Spring, so the vegetation has absolutely exploded this Summer, and with it the insect population. Here are the best shots of the day.

My favorites today are the shot of the Meadow Fritillary butterfly and the first dragonfly photo. The clarity in your photos is incredible.
ReplyDeleteThanks. My own favorites are the Clouded Sulphur and the Ebony Jewelwing. Clouded Sulphurs are tough to get, at least sitting and sipping on a flower, because they're so damned picky and take forever to decided on a plant to land on, so that the photographer gives up in disgust and goes to look for something already sitting still. And I just love the iridescent black of the Jewelwing.
DeleteAs for the clarity... Thank the Universe for digital photography, which makes it possible to take a bunch of shots until you get it right. Given my financial situation at the moment, I'd never be able to afford enough film, much less have it all developed, for the amount of shots I take to get just the right one. The only exception in this batch is that Meadow Fritillary; I only got one shot and that sucker was gone!
